Daarom ga ik in dit blog kort in op het verhaal dat er in de media om het Hugging Face-incident gesponnen is, wat er feitelijk gebeurd is, hoe dit überhaupt kon gebeuren, hoe het in de media besproken narratief OpenAI dient en hoe wij eigenlijk op deze situatie zouden moeten reageren.

I noticed today that an update to the #Linux #Zoom client has made it start proactively reading _everything_ written to the X11 clipboard.
If you keep interesting secrets in your clipboard – particularly, if a password manager uses it as a means of getting the password to where it needs to be – this might be a thing you need to know about!
If voting is so meaningless, why do they work so hard to take it away from us?

@adamshostack A few years ago they had a vulnerability in their desktop clients that allowed a remote attacker to turn on the camera and microphone and stream data. They didn’t fix it for six months after it was reported.
Shortly afterwards, they lied about having end-to-end encryption.
They burned all of the trust I might have given the, five or six years ago. Their app will never run on a machine I care about and I will use their web app only if there is no other option.

@mekkaokereke I was going to do my own thread on this topic. making many of the same points you've made here. Klein massively overstates her case, which is disappointing from her. While it may be true that extreme wealth amplifies and entrenches pre-existing views - and insulates those holding them from any obligation to engage with criticism - there's ample evidence that these tech bros always leaned far-right, politically.
